Throughout June and July 2007, Manchester’s Cornerhouse is presenting a season of films and related events timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong. Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, the season is also designed to heighten the profile of Hong Kong cinema in the UK.
Concentrating on the ten-year period 1997 – 2007, Made in Hong Kong offers a mixture of mainstream and art-house work ranging from that of internationally acclaimed directors such as Wong Kar-wai to more unknown experimental short films.
Supporting the film season will be a series of events for the general public aimed at promoting a greater critical understanding of Hong Kong cinema, culminating in a symposium in partnership with the University of Salford and hosted at Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester.
Please note: at the time of going on line, some of the films screening times are not confirmed, they will be available from 1 june.
All films are at normal cinema ticket prices. You can also book a season pass: book for five films for £20 full / £15 concs (available from 1 june).
