Synopsis

The fascinating story of Britain's most prolific public executioner who ended the lives of 400 men and women, including Ruth Ellis and Derek Bentley. From hangman as family trade, to the discretion and compassion that came withhis part-time job (he was mainly a Greater Manchester Hollinwood pub landlord), the film offers the strange contradictions of Albert Pierrepoint's life - including his views on capital punishment.
