Part of ¡Viva! 18th Spanish and Latin American Film Festival

This lively and informative One Hour Intro will provide insight into the box office hits and hidden gems of contemporary Spanish comedy.

Using a variety of clips from ¡Viva! 2012 and recent Spanish successes, we’ll examine the contexts that make these genre examples unique. There will be a special focus on the role of graphic artist and con-man Manuel Vázquez in the comics culture of the late Franco years.

Led by Peter Buse, Professor of Visual Culture, University of Salford and Nuria Triana Toribio, Senior Lecturer in Spanish Cinema at the University of Manchester.
