Synopsis

Turner Prize winner Steve McQueen’s directorial début presents the final six weeks in the life of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands (Fassbender). Events are seen through the eyes of both prisoners and prison officers in Northern Ireland’s notorious Maze Prison. With a background in conflict artwork, McQueen’s HUNGER shows the power of the martyred hunger striker’s body as a site of political warfare.
