Carnage
15- Roman Polanski
- 80 mins
Roman Polanski returns with an engrossing adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s award-winning play The God of Carnage. An all-star ensemble cast portray the bickering Brooklyn bourgeoisie, as two couples come together to try and make the peace and resolve a violent dispute between their children. Niceties and manners soon give way to an all-out war between the aggrieved bohemians Penelope and Michael, and the parents of the culprit, Nancy and Alan.
Carnage displays Polanski’s true directorial talents as he expertly captures the tension created in an up-market New York apartment with precision and confidence. Teamed with a satirical, savage and fast-paced script – and remarkable performances across the board – this black farce is a must-see for theatre enthusiasts and film fans alike.

REVIEWS
With this stealthy adaptation of the Yasmina Reza stage play, director Roman Polanski has rustled up a pitch-black farce of the charmless bourgeoisie that is indulgent, actorly and so unbearably tense I found myself gulping for air and praying for release. Hang on to your armrest and break out the scotch. These people are about to go off like Roman candles. ****
