ESOL

Using film is an excellent way to analyse colloquial spoken English and study Anglophone culture. Our popular ESOL study sessions are aimed at students registered on an ESOL course and include a full screening of a contemporary English language film, language exercises and discussion topics.

ESOL study mornings are led by Michaela Salmon and Cormac Conway, Manchester Adult Education Services.

ESOL Exhibition Tours

Over the last 4 years, your ESOL students have become increasingly interested in our cinemas programme and we’d like to introduce them to all that Cornerhouse has to offer. In particular, we would like to invite you and your students to discover more about our fantastic exhibitions programme that runs in Galleries 1, 2 and 3 throughout the academic year.

Contemporary visual art is a perfect topic for generating discussion and language learning inside and outside the ESOL classroom. It can challenge ESOL students in a stimulating way. The range of interpretive methods available online and in the gallery space including text panels, gallery guides and podcasts are all excellent tools to provoke discussion and develop key language skills.

Our Engagement Team is more than happy to organise a bespoke exhibition tour, tailored to ESOL language learning, for you and your students to enjoy. For information on our exhibitions programme, please visit the ART section of our website.

For tour information, please email engagement@cornerhouse.org
