Projector Teachers Guide 2011-2012
Welcome to Projector – Cornerhouse’s programme for schools and colleges, introducing students to the latest concepts in contemporary art & film, and bringing creativity and innovation to the classroom.
Events are aimed at the 14 – 19 group studying GCSE, AS, A2 and equivalent qualifications. There are six strands:
Art & Design
Community Languages
Digital (for teachers)
ESOL
Film & Media
Modern Foreign Languages.
Projector also includes INSET days for teachers.

WHAT IS PROJECTOR?
- Art & Design
- Using Cornerhouse exhibitions as well as stand alone syllabus topic areas to stimulate students’ understanding and appreciation.
- Digital
- Sessions for teachers who are interested in using technology to better engage pupils in the classroom. All sessions take place in our Apple Mac training room.
- ESOL
- A chance for students of English for Speakers of Other Languages to practise their language skills through film studies and exhibition tours.
- Modern Foreign Languages
- Through films, students experience first hand the vocabulary, accents and colloquialisms of native speakers. Currently covers German, Spanish and French.
- Community Languages
- Offering students of Urdu, Arabic and Mandarin the opportunity to develop language skills through access to contemporary film.
- Film & Media
- Keeping syllabus specifications in mind, these sessions concentrate on key concepts whilst providing students with a broad range of films to encourage personal study.
