Zineb Sedira was born in Algeria approximately one year after independence from French colonial rule in 1962, raised in France, then finally settled in the UK where she now lives. It is the implications drawn from this cross-cultural identity which reinforces her unique position and which the artist explores.
Published to accompany her first solo exhibition in a public gallery. Zineb Sedira: Telling Stories with Differences is limited edition numbered catalogue (500 copies) featuring a selection of the artist’s single channel video works and images from the exhibition. Texts by Simon Njami, Tina Sotiriadi and Gabriel Coxhead will focus on the autobiographical references, conceptual links and issues of identity and memory that Zineb Sedira explores in her work.
