Lucian Freud: Drawings brings together a compilation of Lucian Freud’s graphic work selected with the assistance of the late artist. Beginning in the 1940s and spanning the artist’s career, this densely illustrated volume, features a number of the works never before exhibited or reproduced.
Distinguished writer and art critic William Feaver presents works that range from the intimate, including portraits of his mother and father, his children and close friends – amo ng them the painter Francis Bacon – to landscapes and studies of animals. Etchings, watercolours, gouaches and works rendered in chalk, charcoal, pastel, conté, and pen and ink, are to be interspersed with oil paintings, constantly interrelating.
Former art critic for London’s Observer newspaper, William Feaver is the author of numerous books including The Pitman Painters and The Art of John Martin.
Mark Rosenthal is adjunct curator at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida, and mong his many publications are books on Jasper Johns, Joseph Beuys, and Anselm Kiefer.
