Le Surréalisme, c’est moi! presents Salvador Dalí, one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, in a contemporary context. Dalí’s visionary and multi-faceted work continues to influence both artists and surrealist tendencies in contemporary art.
The paintings, drawings and sculptures of Dalí are examined together with more recent works by Louise Bourgeois, Glenn Brown, Markus Schinwald and Francesco Vezzoli.
Paintings, sculptures, drawings, films, and video works explore the visual worlds of the unconscious, the history of art and the tradition of painting, the phenomenon of renown, and the role of art and the artist in society and popular culture.
Published to accompany the exhibition at Kunsthalle Vienna, 22 June – 23 October 2011.
