Published to accompany the first exhibition in the UK of Polish artist Lukasz Skapski, Light Works provides an overview of the artist's work that includes an exhibition of recent work, a permanent commission, 'Via Lucem Continens', and 'How Close Are You', an interactive installation commissioned for Maidstone Library Gallery.
Skapski’s devices promise easy solutions to enable greater perception and in so doing provide an ironic commentary on the marketing of art as enlightenment – museological solutions to the intangibility of light, art, technology and other millennial dilemmas. His photographs invite mediation on the universe, both its mechanics and metaphorical significance. 'How Close Are You' is a device to view the sunset on the longest day of the year.
