For 30 years Frankfurt-based artist Karsten Bott has been collecting everyday objects, especially objects other people throw away. Bott is interested in an ‘archaeological’ inventory of objects people need, of how they use them and of how these objects are related to each other. For his book he photographed more than 2,000 objects. Organised according to lexical criteria, they constitute an encyclopaedia of human life.
