What kind of work do you show?
Cornerhouse has no permanent collection but shows a diverse programme of temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Work shown ranges from group shows from international artists, to solo shows from established regional artists.
We also show work of young and emerging artist in the café and bar area. Exhibitions are accompanied by a range of related events and activities, including artist talks, courses on contemporary art and much more.
How do I get my work shown in Cornerhouse galleries?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept or consider unsolicited proposals for exhibitions in the three main gallery spaces. Exhibitions in these spaces result from direct invitations to artists and curators.
We are not currently accepting submissions to Cornerhouse Projects (in the cafe and bar area). Please check back to see whne submissions will re open.
Where do I find information on past shows/particular artists etc?
Just click on "Archive" in the Art section and you can browse by year, title, artist etc...
Do I have to pay to visit the exhibition?
No, entry to the gallery is free. Events and talks are also free whenever this is possible, but sometimes have a minimal charge. All talks and events are ticketed so you need to phone the box office to guarantee your place.
When are you open?
The galleries are closed on Mondays.
Our opening times for the rest of the week are:
Tue, Wed, Fri & Sat 11.00 – 18.00
Thu 11.00 – 20.00
Sun 14.00 – 18.00
Is it possible to hire the gallery space?
It is possible at certain times to hire the gallery space for events outside gallery opening hours. This depends on the exhibition being shown at the time. For more information contact Pat Raikes, General Manager at pat.raikes@cornerhouse.org
Can I get a guided tour of the exhibition?
There are normally two informal guided tours lasting less than an hour to accompany each exhibition. One takes place on a Thursday between 18.00-19.00 and the other on a Sunday afternoon between 15.00-16.00. You can find the exact date for each exhibition on the website, listings or call 0161 228 7621 for information about these. It is helpful if you can book in advance.
Groups of six or more can request their own tour of an exhibition, but please call to discuss this with Chris Clarke, 0161 200 1545.
Do I need to book in advance to bring a school or college group?
It is helpful if we know at least a week in advance if you intend to bring a large group to Cornerhouse galleries. This will allow us to tell you any information that might be relevant to your groups’ visit, let you know about any programmed activities that might be appropriate and, if possible, allow us to offer you a brief informal tour.
Please contact Chris Clarke, Visual Arts Education Officer on 0161 200 1545 or email engagement@cornerhouse.org
Is there any information available to help teachers who wish to bring school groups?

What is the focus of PROJECTOR Art & Design?
Cornerhouse runs PROJECTOR Art & Design study sessions for GCSE and As and A2 levels (or equivalents). These in-depth half day sessions are led by experienced tutors who address the demands of the National Curriculum and enthuse and inspire by introducing contemporary art first hand to the groups. Sessions cost £2.50 per student, with teachers attending without charge.
We are always willing to hear your thoughts on subject areas you feel PROJECTOR could address, please feel free to get in touch and tell us your ideas.
