Esther Leslie will discuss animation as a subversive art form, considering the ways in which archive and recent animations have reassembled the conventional constraints of space and time, in gestures that are often utopian and critical.
Esther Leslie is Professor in Political Aesthetics at Birkbeck College, London and the author of Hollywood Flatlands: Animation, Critical Theory and the Avant Garde (Verso 2002) and Walter Benjamin (Reaktion 2007).
