Cornerhouse galleries bring the best in contemporary visual arts to the city, exhibiting work of international significance, initiating and receiving touring exhibitions while also identifying opportunities to support and promote artists based in the North West.
Our programme provides a launch pad for young artists as well as exhibiting established British and foreign artists through a balance of solo and themed exhibitions, retrospectives and the commissioning of new work.
In addition to the formal exhibition programme Cornerhouse Visual Arts Department also organise a wide range of one-off events and a short-run artists’ projects programme throughout the main building.
Collaborations with other galleries, resulting in national and international tours of Cornerhouse initiated exhibitions, also serve to enhance Cornerhouse's worldwide reputation.
Last year the exhibitions programme attracted an attendance of over 55,000 across the seven scheduled exhibitions.
The three floors of galleries are open from Tuesday to Sunday during the run of each exhibition. The galleries will be closed periodically throughout the year whilst the exhibitions are changed.
